'The Kings Of Summer' Movie Review

The Kings of Summer Blu-ray
"The Kings Of Summer"
Cast:
Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Moises Arias, Gabriel Basso, Megan Mullally
Marc Evan Jackson,Erin Moriarty
Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Writer: Chris Galletta
Rated R
CBS Films|Running Time 93 minutes
On DVD/Blu-Ray September 24, 2013

Plot: Three teenage friends Joe (Robinson), Patrick (Basso) and the eccentric and unpredictable Biaggio (Arias) sick of being told what to do by their parents, they decide to build a house in the woods for the summer. The friendship between the boys is tested. The boys learn a lesson about family, weather or not you're born into it or create it is something you can not run away from.

I remember what it was like when you got sick of following your parents rules. You could only wish and hope to grow up even faster. I just want to be able to do what I want when ever I want. You just can't wait to move out and have my own place.

Well in The Kings Of Summer you get to see what the highs and lows of what it was like to be a teenager again. This movie is very much a coming-of-age film. It follows the story of Joe (Nick Robinson) having a troubled time connecting with his dad Frank (Nick Offerman). Just recently after losing his wife, Joe is upset at the fact that his father has recently started dating.

Meanwhile, Joe's friend Patrick (Gabriel Basso) is having to deal with his over bearing parents (Megan Mullally and Marc Even Jackson). They keep treating him like a child and smothering him.

The boys set out to find what is the be their home in the middle of the woods. Bringing along for the ride the odd, but very funny Biaggio (Moises Arias). The boys set up shop and must find a way to eat, live and survive in the woods. I must say I really didn't expect to enjoy the movie. It was very light-hearted, funny movie that has heart as well. Dealing with loss, first loves, having you heartbroken for the first time. You will feel for the characters. I had a few laughs as well thanks, giving the offbeat performance of Mosises Arias.

Overall, I found the movie to be very touching, refreshing and honest. I enjoyed watching it, it was a bit slow at points here and there. It was just a "feel good" movie. I thoroughly enjoyed watching, I would highly recommend watching.

CBS Fall 2013:My Reaction/Thoughts

Comedies
"We Are Men"
Tasteless, humor-less. I was bored watching. Nothing for me to see here. Skip it!
Premieres Monday Sept. 30 at 8:30 ET.

"Mom"
I like Anna Faris. I did not like the pilot. I found nothing amusing about the show, at all. I may or may not watch on-demand.
Premieres Monday September 23 at 9:30 ET.

"The Millers"
It was just okay. Nothing really funny about it. I have no clue, maybe it's just bad CBS karma(canceled a few of my favorites this year). Skip it!
Premieres Thursday Oct. 3rd at 8:30 ET.

"The Crazy Ones"
I may ONLY watch because I love Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams. It was alright. DVR it.
Thursday September 26th at 9 ET.

Drama
"Hostages"
I really enjoyed "Hostages" it is very much like a mini-movies. It will keep your attention for entire time. I highly recommend this one. Watch it!
Premieres Monday September 23rd at 10 ET.

"Intelligence"
I really I have mixed feelings about this show. I like this is has drama, Science Fiction feel. It reminds me of "Person of Interest" with a hi-tech spin. DVR it.
Premieres Monday Febuaray 24 at 10 ET.

ABC Fall 2013:My Reaction/Thoughts

Comedies
"Super Fun Night"

I really like Rebel Wilson. I am just not sure how being "a homebody" with your BFF's ALL the time is funny. I can only hope the show will improve in the near future. Mixed feelings.
Premiere Wed. Oct. 2nd at 9:30 ET

"Back in the Game" I honestly do not remember much. Something about baseball. Snooze. Skip it.
Premieres Wed. Sept 25 at 8:30 ET

"Trophy Wife" I liked it. It may be a "lazy" attempt at a few laughs, but it worked for me. Watch it!
Premieres Tuesday September 24 at 9:30 ET.

"The Goldbergs"
After watching the pilot. I thought to myself it reminds me of a modern day err..raunchy version of  "The Wonder Years". Yes, it will bring you back to the 80's. Ah, nostalgic memories for me. Watch on-demand.
Premieres Tuesday September 24 at 9 ET.

Drama
"Betrayal"
This show felt as though it was a rehash of so many other "soapy dramas"(Err..like a Lifetime movie). Nothing truly original stood out for me. Take it or leave it. Skip it!
Premieres Sunday Sept. 29 at 10 ET.

"Resurrection"(midseason)
Very interesting. Different. It actually makes you think. Smart. Watchable. I want to see where it goes in future episodes. Watch it!

"Killer Women"(midseason)
I was bored 15 minutes in. I may finish watching with my final thoughts at a later time.

"Lucky Seven"
Very believable premise. I just couldn't pull myself into their world. Nothing really stood out. I am curious to see maybe episode two. Take it or leave. Watch on-demand.
Premieres Tuesday Sept. 24 at 10 ET.

"Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" Sadly, I did not see the pilot. So I will watch on premiere night. I've heard positive things about it.

'NBC' Fall 2013-My Reaction Thoughts.

Comedies
"About A Boy"*(midseason)
Nothing special, unfortunately the show has very predictable plot. So much so, I could have wrote it. Skip it!

"Growing Up Fisher"*(midseason)
Sweet, honest comedy. Not bad. I like the down-to-earth feel. Very believable. Watch it!

"Welcome To The Family"
Very forgettable. Yup, that pretty much sums it up for me. *(side note) I almost did not reconize "Desperate Housewives" Ricardo Chavira.
Premieres Thursday October 3rd at 8:30 ET

"The Micheal J. Fox Show"
Not horrible, not great. Happy to see Micheal J. Fox back on television. I may watch here and there. DVR worthy!
Premieres Thursday October 26th (1 hour) at 9 ET.

"Sean Saves The World"
I loved watching Sean Hayes on "Will and Grace". Still goofy and silly. I enjoyed the pilot. I am happy to see "Reno 911's" Tom Lennon as well. Funny pilot. Watch it!
Premieres Thursday October 3rd at 9ET.

Dramas
"Ironside" The show is very watchable, if you like a cop drama. Just was not emotionally invested will watching. Watch on-demand.
Premieres Wednesday Oct 2nd at 10 ET.

"The Blacklist"
What can I say about this show. So, so good. I admit I am a fan girl for James Spader. Great acting all around. Megan Boone plays very well with James, great chemistry. The plot is so intriguing. I can not say how much I enjoyed watching. Watch it!!
Premieres Monday September 23rd at 10 ET.

"The Night Shift" (midseason)
I was bored. It reminds me of ER meets Grey's Anatomy. I'm pretty much not interested in watching past the pilot. Skip it!

"Believe" (midseason)
I really liked it. It was very compelling to watch. I enjoyed the characters playing off each other. Very much on my watch-list. Watch it!

"Crisis" (midseason)
TBD. Had screener problem. Will post my thoughts soon.

"Dracula" I will post my thoughts soon. Premieres Friday October 25 at 10 ET.

FOX Fall Shows 2013:My Reaction/Opinion

Dads
I like the premise. I loved "Ted" and I am a Seth McFarland fan(mostly due to "American Dad"). This show has potential. I did giggle here and there. I will have to wait and see. Worth checking out!

Airing Tuesday September 17 8pm ET.

Sleepy Hollow
If you're into the legendary tale known as "The Headless Horseman" you will more then likely enjoy this series. It did hold my interest throughout  I was entertained, it has action, drama and a bit of humor. I am just not sure if it will be added to my list of "must watch" shows this fall. Worth a watch!

Airing Monday September 16 at 9pm ET.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I am a fan of SNL alum Andy Samburg. So with saying that. I did laugh watching the pilot. I am not in love with it. BUT I highly recommend giving it a watch. If only those that are fans of Andy's sense of humor. Watch it!

Airing Tuesday September 17 at 8:30pm ET.

Gang Related(midseason)
This series lives up to the title. It is very gritty and give you a no nonsense look at what the streets of L.A. gang life is like. If you like the fast-paced drama, you will enjoy this show. Not my favorite of the FOX shows, but worth a watch. DVR it!

Rake(midseason)
I barely made it all the way through watching. Not at all enjoyable. Skip it.

Us &Them(midseason)
Very likeable. It's a mini rom-com packaged into 22 minutes. Watch it!

Enlisted(midseason)
I found nothing at all that I laughed nor enjoyed about this show. I did not want to finish it. It took all my strength to make it the whole 20 something minutes.... Ugh. Skip it!

Airing January 2014.

Surviving Jack(midseason)
I found nothing to like in the "comedy". Yes, it made me take a look back to the 90's. Yet, I would still was bored watching. (Yawn). Skip it!

Almost Human
A futuristic, action/sci-fi drama. Period. I must say it is a bit odd Micheal Ealy (robo-ish) acting is sorta creepy. It was just okay for me. Watch on-demand/online.
Airing in November.
