Daniel Wu Coming 'Badlands' On AMC

AMC has cast Hong Kong film star Daniel Wu as the lead in a new martial arts drama series 'Badlands' (WT). Wu also serves as an executive producer on the series.

The series stars Hong-Kong actor,director and producer Daniel Wu.
"Badlands" is a martial arts series loosely based on a classic Chinese tale 'Journey To The West'. In a land controlled by feudal barons, telling the story of a ruthless, well trained warrior named Sunny (Wu) and a young boy who embark on a journey across a dangerous land to find enlightenment.

“After working together with such a talented team of executive producers, writers and executives at AMC, I am excited for the opportunity to bring this character to life‎," said Wu.

Wu joins the previously announced cast which includes: Emily Beecham(28 Weeks Later), Sarah Bolger (The Tudors), Oliver Stark (My Hero;The Adventurer:The Curse of The Midas Box), David Dobkin (The Judge;Wedding Crashers) will be the series director. 

AMC has ordered six (one hour) episodes in which is expected to air late 2015 or early 2016. The series was created by writer/show-runners Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville). Serving as executive producers along with Dobkin, producer Stacey Sher and Micheal Shamberg (Pulp Fiction) and Stephen Fung and Wu (Tai Chi Zero).
