Everything You Need To Know 'Shadowhunters' on ABC Family

Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who
she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters human-angel hybrids who
hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of
demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among
faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns
more about her past and what her future may hold.

ABC Family has found it's  Shadowhunter villain Alan Van Sprang ("Reign") as Valentine. Van Sprang will be a recurring guest star on the series.

Brilliant, cunning, and dangerously handsome, Valentine is a mysterious Shadowhunter wielding immense power. His stoic, charming, and confident presence allows him control over his many followers To seek out what he wants, Valentine executes anyone in his way, never thinking twice about it.

Maxim Roy (Canadian series "19-2" and "Heartland") as Clary’s mother, Jocelyn Fray.Roy will be a recurring guest star on the series.

Very beautiful, warm, protective and bold, Jocelyn Fray is Clary’s mother. On the surface, Jocelyn leads a normal life running an antiquities store. We will learn, however, that she harbors many secrets about a past life, particularly her ties to an ancient group of supernatural beings known as Shadowhunters. In order to defend Clary from danger, Jocelyn transforms from single mom back into one of the most lethal Shadowhunters that ever lived.

Shadowhunters has found it's  'Clary Fray‘ naming Katherine McNamara. She was recently seen starring in the feature film "New Year‘s Eve" and will be seen next in the feature film ―Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials‖ and this summer on ABC Family‘s hit series "The Fosters."

Beautiful, creative, and intelligent, Clary Fray is a promising art student whose bright future is derailed when her mother is kidnapped and she learns her life has been a lie. Clary discovers a hidden Shadow World full of Vampires, Werewolves, and other unthinkable danger that she quickly learns to navigate. As she is forced into action, she embraces her new found powers and realizes that she will play the central role in this new world.

Matthew Daddario ("Delivery Man") playing the character of Alec Lightwood. Also adding Isaiah Mustafa ("Horrible Bosses") as Luke Garroway.

Alec Lightwood joins Jace and his sister, Isabelle, in their pursuit of demonic creatures. He‘s tortured by his romantic love for Jace, who is his adoptive brother and fighting partner. The eldest of the group, his strict moral code forces him to follow the law to the letter.

Luke Garroway is an NYPD detective investigating a string of "demonic" murders. Luke feels a fatherly instinct to protect Clary, a strong affection for Jocelyn and has secrets of his own. Once a strong and powerful Shadowhunter, he has since become the thing he once hated most – a werewolf pack leader.
